Cubs

Age

Cub Scouts are aged 8-10½ years and make up the second section of 1st Ditchling Scouting family, between Beavers and Scouts.

Cub Scouts Promise

I promise that I will do my best,
To do my duty to God and to the King,
To help other people,
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

Cub Scouts Law

Cub Scouts always do their best,
Think of others before themselves,
And do a good turn every day.

Structure

A Pack of Cub Scouts is organised into smaller groups of six called Sixes. Each Six is named after a snake with a Sixer and a Seconder in charge.

Meetings

Thursdays from 6.00pm – 7.15pm

Cubs usually meet once a week during term time. There is a mix of meetings at the Scout Hut, Ditchling Recreation Ground or Ditchling Common as well as surrounding woods, hills and nearby activities.
During their time in the Pack, Cub Scouts will get a chance to try lots of different activities and trips like swimming, music and exploring as well as learning outdoor and adventure skills and all whilst earning badges.

There is also the chance to take part in District Events such as the annual Raft Race and Swimming Gala as well as summer camp.

If you would like to find more information about being a Cub please find a link to the Cubs pages on the main Scouts website here.

Joining

Most Cubs join by “Swimming up” from Beavers. However we can sometimes offer places to new Cubs, please fill in the form here to join our waiting list and we will let you know if a space becomes available.

Cub Scouts can join the Pack as young as 7½ at the GSLs and Cub Leader’s discretion (see our Wait list and Joining policy for more information).
